Buffiniraq Part 2

As some of you may know, I have been "drafted" by the Corps of Engrs for another tour of duty. Should be sometime in Feb and I'll have to go thru TAC in Winshester again for latest training and pick up my "equipment"... Hope my vest and helmet still fit...LOL Anyway, the 6 months I've been home has been a blessing. It was really great seeing family and friends again. While here, I gave presentations entitled, "Iraq: The Rest of the Story-What We're NOT Seeing on TV" to service organizations like the Rotary,(2) American Legion(2) Kiwanis and sudents at PCC and the College of Education at ECU. Soon I'll be working on developing ways to continue to teach and train our Iraqi engineers utilizing our technology and help our soldiers be able to continue their education during their "down time" while deployed in Iraq. This is truly a God send for them as well as for me. I've often wondered why He ever helped me persevere in getting my doctoral in Technology Education...now I know...LOL This will be a very special opportunity to help so many for many years to come.
Additionally while home, I also kept in touch with our soldiers and they've sent me some pics of their expeiences in delivering the backpacks so many of St peters' families and students had sent while I was there.I left before they could be delivered but my soldiers "godderdun" as they promised. We are so blessed to have these guys and gals. As an example...after "clearing" different villages and towns thru out the country (sending these nutzoids to rendevous with 72 virgins and Saddam), they return the next day to deliver back packs for kids whose parents never had the chance to become educated because our dearly departed Saddam had slaughtered most of the teachers and shut off the water and electricity to most of the schools to control the masses of 24 million Iraqis. After delivering the packs and the COE guys turn the water and lights back on... you can imagine how these Iraqi parents feel after what they've been thru... We are so blessed...I am an honored to serve for the third time in my life and am looking forward to it because I know my bride and son Will are safe and among special friends...

Lisa...Thank you again girl for your love and support. My family is blessed to have you as a friend. Have no fear about the future. As I tell my kids, if we concentrate on what His will is for us and not ours, He will provide. Look what He has done for my family these past 17 years in Greenville. I've been blessed to be able to help our soldiers and Iraqis and am thankful for the opportunity to serve again. If He wanted me down Katrina, I reckon I'd have been headed that way instead of back to Baghdad. You are special and mean so much to us who have children there at St Peters. Keep up the great work and let the kids know what an honor it is to serve others FIRST no matter where it is in the world...I'll try to keep yall up to date with what's goin on there when I finally get settled in sometime by the end of Feb. Give my best to Wes...God bless
Had a feeling you weren't going to stay away, hoped I was wrong, but it really doesn't surprise me. God Bless you and your family, I think you are both crazy and caring. But it is obvious that you feel that the good things going on in Iraq are worth continuing. I hope that all the projects you worked on the first time are still standing and going full force, and I'm sure all the good things you accomplish over there will keep touching the lives of the Iraqi people. The ones you've shown really seem to appreciate everything you are doing, some people over here wonder if they are hating the Americans for bombing their country, but it seems we really haven't taken away much that they didn't already didn't have anyway. May God Bless you and your family, knowing they are making a sacrifice for the betterment of this world. Peace and Shalom --Cheryl
Cheryl...Thank you again for support and prayers...Please don't worry about the long term results of what we're doing.I assure you we are touching lives for the better and everything we're doing is helpful to the Iraqis as well as the U.S.Look at this way: if we weren't doing good why so much interest in our failure??? Why so much evil??? We can all be very be very thankful we have a few good folks amongst us willing to make the effort to give millions of Muslims HOPE and an opportunity to find their own way to the grave...God bless
