Last Week at LSA Anaconda

Here are some of my guys "breaking bread" at the DFAC here on base. They're very special guys responsible for all the construction "inside the wire" here which is creating a thorn in the side of some of our "local neighbors" (Syria to the west and Iran to the east) as you could well imagine. I tell these guys one day they'll be visiting here as tourists with their grandchildren and telling them about these great "mess hall" days when they were young and serving their country. They're special to me because they find ways to get these projects done in spite of the logistical nightmare of trying to get enough gravel on base for concrete placements. The local truck drivers have to brave threats, ambushes and elements night and day just to help these guys find ways to "gedderdun". It is truly remarkable to watch them perform under the circumstances. I am honored to serve with them to say the least. They are a "few good men" doing a whole of work under very difficult circumstances. Thank God we're blessed to have them. Next time will be my last blog from Iraq; then it's homeward bound...

Hi! Well, I know that you have become close to alot of people during your stay in Iraq. But now you should be able to leave with the assurance that these people will be able to finish the work there because that is what you have taught them to do. It must feel good to see God's work get done every day, and what people of faith to come to work in such conditions as these! I wonder if many people here in the US could have as much faith. It would be hard, indeed, I'm sure we just can't imagine. Your family does, obviously, as they allowed you this time. It was quite an interesting trip, to say the least. Thank You for sharing it with us through this site. Wishing you a safe trip home! Peace and Shalom!
Cheryl...Thank you for your kindness and support. It was an honor for me to serve and a blessing for my family to have you as a friend these past 13 months. Hope to see ya next week. Love to all our SPS crowd. God bless ...
Buff, I was wondering if you knew how I could get a job at Camp Anaconda? I would love to help out and give a year of my time over there. Thank you for your time!
Serena...If you are looking to work for the government, go to any U.S. Gov job site and search for "Jobs" and select Iraq. If you want to work for a contractor serving Anaconda, you will have to have to apply thru their company sites. Find which companies are there and then apply. I found my job on the Corps of Engineer site. http://www.cpol.army.mil/ and see what jobs are available. Ido not know where in Iraq your skills will be needed though. Mine happened to be needed at Anaconda...Hope this helps. God bless
