6th Week

Yesterday, on my way to the PDF (Postal Distribution Facility) site, I noticed some kids off to my right maybe 100 yards outide our perimeter fence around the base. They were swimming in the canal/creek/whatever they think it is...it's a very polluted stream for sure...that parallels the eastern perimeter. Sooooo, I had my gov issued digital and stopped at the nearest guard post overlooking the area. From that vantage point I was able to shoot these pics. I found myself thinking what it must be like having to raise 2 kids in that "home". The parents were in the field behind the "house" tilling the land. The kids were enjoying the swim and excited about having their pic being taken so today on my back to the site I had to slip them a few printed copies through the concertina wire and were they excited campers...probably the first time they ever saw themselves in print...what a great day this was... for me

Comments:
Christina...Thanks girl. Look forward to next summer's trip-I may make it in time.

Uncle Dickie...Good job. Let me know where Garrick is so I can try to connect. God bless.

Uncle Phillip...Let my God son check out this 14 year old Iraqi boy's PAD and SWIMMING POOL in his FRONT YARD! LOL, OH Mathew my boy, how blessed we are Bubba to be born in America and into the families we were born into...God bless. Uncle Buff

Tommy...Thanks for all your kindnesses to my family over the years. You and Rita are the best. Love to Maurice and the rest of the Robichaux clan. Let me know who that Raceland soldier is...God bless. Buff

Lisa....thanks for the update. I missed being there to drop him off and feel like cryin about it now just sayin it. It's the hardest thing a Dad or Mom over here has to do. You and Miss C make it bearable believe me. Give Miss C my regards and be sure Will and Gabe pay attention...they're only spendin 1 year of their life with you 2 special people so they gotta make it count ...Best to Wes. God bless.

Bob and Elise...You have had so much happen in first year of your lives together. Not to worry, He's prepping you and your family to be for future. Have Faith and stay close to Him and He'll help you get thru things of this world until we can all be together forever. I love you so much ...

Tracy K Ya did good girl...You're the techie guru of the Kennedy clan...Look forward to the latest back home. So happy to hear about rising trooper Cheech...not bad for a kid who use d to hang around jails for fun...LOL Proud of ya Cheech. Ya did good for your family. God bless.

Hi Mr. DeLeo! We have all been thinking about you a lot lately. My mom sends her love and says "hi". Thank you so much for sharing the wonderful stories and pictures! It sounds like you are doing great things over there. You are in our prayers. We love you! Megan Duffus

Bill,
We keep checking in and are glad that you're well. We stopped by the house before going to synagogue to say HI to Colette, but no one was home. We'll try again.
- Matt & Aline

Pat ...Thank you for your kindness and give Joan a squeeze for me at the gym!
You should check out the Corps site anyway because Contracting positions are needed here anyway. I'll carry on and you keep the Faith ...lots of good things goin on here in spite of what you may be hearin back home...

Megan... you and your Mom are special ...Thanks for staying close to my bride and William. God bless.

Matt and Aline...Thanks for remembering us on your trips to Greenville. My bride is now a photographer and from time to time must do weddings and family portraits. Next time, give her a call first. Hope all is well in Martin County for ya. Stay well and God bless.

Erin...you make this trip worthwhile. The whole experience here is to help 25 Million others one day get on their feet so they too can provide for their families the way Mom and I were blessed to be able to do in Greenville...just because we were blessed to be born in the U.S. He said, "love one another..." and that's really all this trip for me and so many other Americans is all about. It's our choice...either we try to follow His example or we don't. I choose to try and pray He helps me to do just that...so far, from my perspective here on the ground, we're doin just that. Just keep the Faith He will provide us with all we need to do the job until these folks can get on their feet. Not to worry about me. I've got 17000 soldiers and airmen who are takin care of business while we're helpin rebuild this place and teach these folks along the way how to do it themselves...it's not easy Baby girl, but followin Him was never easy....(think of the Apostles and so many others to this very day tryin to tell this part of the world about Him)...It's the way the world reacts to Him that makes it tougher than it has to be. That's "the Way, the Truth and the Life" as I learned way back in St Basil's... Keep doin good things and stay close to Him the rest of your life...you'll be fine. ...I love you and miss you.

Thanks for sharing these pictures, I will never complain about our living conditions - We have been truely blessed. Can't imagine having to live in a house made of what looked like mostly mud and sticks. Our prayers are with you, and all the men protecting your work over there. -Peace, --Cheryl

Cheryl...Ditto for me. I'm so thankful I have the opp to contribute. It truly is a blessing when you see these kinds of things and actually meet and get to know some of the Iraqis who risk their lives daily just to come to work at our sites and on the base. It is very humbling indeed...Thanks for your support. Keep the Faith for "This too shall pass..."

Uncle Phillip...thanks for the great to be 64 wishes...LOL. If you weren't tipped off I'd have missed the day myself! Can't believe you 're smaller than Matt...damn, it didn't long BRO! At this rate you'll be a midget if you keep shrinkin ...LOL Make sure that boy knows what bein "up there" in the clouds entails...lots of us smaller folks (younger kids too)can see him easier so we'll be lookin at his example...yanowadImean Uncle Phillip? LOL Thanks for the Kind word bout my bertday. Love to the "leaker" I mean, Aunt Celeste...LOL

Colette, Erin Marissa and William...Thanks very much for the my ice cream celebration in absentia...LOL I spent it here relaxing in my bunk reading Paul's Letter to Timothy! There's no mention of ice cream to remind me of it so it came and went without any hoopla...LOL Anyway, if the "Illinois leaker" hadn't mentioned it to the world, I probably wouldn't have even given it a thought at all, but now everyone knows I'm a year older-and that's almost off the charts for a guy my age...Ya gotta admit: I look pretty good for an 84 year old right? ... LOL I love yall and thanks again.

Mike...Thanks for stayin with it BRO. David or Jess could have helped easy I bet...Yeh, say hay to me here and I'll answer as quick as I can. Gettin real busy takin over projects from guys rotatin back home so I gotta run. Thanks for bein there for William and Colette. Means a lot...

Colette...I have updated the blog as of 6 PM Iraqi time which is 10 AM Sunday morning there. After Church it should be available. Love ya
